Part two of the HiT-SQUAD tutorials. Here I'll
go over how the objective (the case) was
created for HiT-SQUAD, the serious teamplay
modification for Serious Sam.

To start create a box centered
on the origin with the dimentions of Width 40cm,
Height 30cm, Depth 11cm. Give the box rounded
edges on the Y axsis with a radius of 1.5cm.

This gives us the basic shape
of our case but I think it needs a little bit
more. Lets add some feet for the case to rest
on.

Select a new layer and place
the case layer in the backgound. This will give
us a bit of referance when we make our feet.
Create a new box the the dimentions Width 6cm,
Height 2.3cm and Depth 4.9cm. Make sure the center
is about 12cm on the X axis, -16cm on the Y axis,
and 0 on the Z axis.

Using the stretch tool (h key) reduce
the bottom set of points on the box by about
65%

Mirror the box along the X axis
and delete the top faces on the boxes. Since
these faces won't ever be seen by the player
they can be removed to optimize our model. While
this particular model isn't going to be very
high poly, it is still a good idea to practice
optimizing your models.

Now to create the locks. Chances
are the player won't ever take enough time to
carefully examine the case model we can slim
down the detail a little bit. To create the locks
on the case we can use simple boxes and then
go back later and put a nice lock texture on
it.

Select a new layer, placing
all of our previous work in the background. Create
a box (x key) the the dimentions Width
5cm, Height 7.5cm, Depth 5cm. Place it to one
side of the top of the case. Mirror this box
across the X axis and delete the bottom faces.
Again, the player won't see this side of the
locks so its safe to remove them.

Now for the handle. Once again
select a new layer and place everything else
the the background. Create a box centered on
the X axis with the dimentions Width 18cm, Height
2.5cm and Depth 3cm. Give the box three segments
on the X axis.

Turn on Symmetry (found in the
middle bottom of the Modeler interface or with
the shift + y shortcut. Select
the end points of the box.

Rotate them 90 degrees and move them down to
meet the top of the case.

Now move the remaining points
around until you have a nice handle shape. At
this point it's really up to you how it looks.
You can see my finished handle below.

For the finishing touch we'll
add a small seam in the case. Swithc back to
the first layer and select the middle polygons
on the case. Using the knife tool (ctrl + k key)
make two cuts about 1cm above and below the X
axis while in the Top Viewport.

Select these newly made polygons.
Using the Smooth Shift tool found under the multiply
menu (shift + f) give them an offset
of -5mm. Use the stretch tool (h key)
and reduce the width of the polys slightly on
the Z axis.
Now we just tripple our model (shift + t)
and it's ready to go!

There you have it. One low poly case ready to
be snatched up by a band of hired guns.
