Adding & reducing detail
]
Using auxiliary polygons |
|
Two polygons to one and vice versa |
|
Three polygons to one and vice versa |
Freeze This technique can be used with a patch division of two, but you'll have to reconnect the mesh using the first case of the previous tutorial If you go over 3 you'll have to combine the two techniques from the previous tutorial. |
|
Make sure that your patch division is set to three. Select the polygons where you want to increase the detail and subpatch them |
|
Freeze (Clrt+d) those polygons. Now we need to connect the new geometry, we do this by welding (ctrl+w) the points as the arrows indicate |
|
Fill the empty spaces with polygons (red ones) |
Add Edge This plugin can be obtained at DStorm web site
| |
Add the new edges using add edge.
| |
Ops!. Some 3 & 5 side polygons appear
| |
Using "add edge" slice the 5 side poly in half starting from the contiguous 3 side poly
| |
This technique can be use to get any shape.
| |
Perfect for fine detail like veins.Disc to 4 side poly <table border="0" cellpadding="2" cellspacing="2" width="100%"><tr> <td colspan="2" align="center">For using this technique the number of sides must be even </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center">Create two bevels, one to the inside and the second one just in place (0 inset), you can do that just by pressing the right mouse button</td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center"></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center">Without deselecting the polygon from the bevel make a set value (ctrl+v).
